At left and below, this adorable dog 7 years of age is a "young senior". We're delighted to say Ren was recently adopted - and will make a great companion for a retired person since she's calm, quiet and gentle.

Diamond is no longer available for adoption, but there are others almost as cute! 
 Diamond is a white toy poodle weighing seven pounds. She was the cherished companion of an elderly lady who is no longer able to care for her. Although Diamond is ten years old, she probably has eight more years of love and devotion to give to some lucky adopter. She is going to be a wonderful companion for her new adopters. Older dogs are often overlooked, but we know from experience that some people have caught on to the fact that they often have many positive attributes that younger dogs have not yet developed. Betsy is a ten year old female poodle weighing ten pounds. There’s just one problem. Someone forgot to tell Betsy that she’s a senior. She’s a darling girl and has plenty of playful spunk left in her. She was facing an uncertain future at a public animal shelter and was being overlooked. A friend of Poodle Rescue of Houston pulled her from that shelter for us along with another dog named Badger and not a moment too soon.
Both Betsy and Badger have a lot of unconditional love to give to their new adopters.

This little dog was rescued by a young lady who saw it thrown from a moving car.

Poodle Rescue of Houston accepted the pup and helped her with vet care, food, shelter, grooming - and a much better home.

We are the family who adopted Casper/now Louie and he is doing great.  Much to our pleasant surprise, he's already crate-trained and housebroken.  He's making it very easy for us.  We just have to work on leash skills.  He's a joy and fits into our family perfectly.  He's a big, sweet love muffin!  I attached a picture of him chillin' in his bed.  ♥♥♥

ROCKY COMES OUT OF HIS SHELL FOR KIM AND PETE

A quick note to update you on Rocky (formerly Tiny Tim). As you can see, he is enjoying some sun before it gets cold. Thank you all for Tiny Tim. He has come a long way from the shy boy who runs and hides to sleeping with us and walking on a leash and all this in a week so we think he will grow up happy here with us in Murphy, Texas!! We’ve renamed him Rockford but his nickname is Rocky.
P.S. Rocky starts “school” tomorrow.

Today JR paid his first visit to the dog park.  He had a great time.  Ran and ran and ran.  Right now he's plumb tuckered out!

 When these two pups entered our adoption program they had a skin condition that needed treatment. This darling picture was taken while they were getting a special medicated bath. They were so cute that they were adopted as soon as their picture was posted. 

This wonderful letter makes it all worth it. Thanks for the letter.

Snowie (the puppy) and her mom, and an unidentified male dog were dumped in a small fenced air-conditioner unit barrier. The original rescuers could not catch the male once they opened the area fencing but contacted Poodle Rescue to see about getting the two females accepted into our adoption program. They now have happy homes. We wish this was an unusual story, but it happens all too often. We accept a lot of dogs into our program that are brought to our attention by good Samaritans.

When Brisco first got to the shelter, I sent some pics to some of the animal people that I've met over the years at the hospital. Earlier in the week one of them called me and said Brisco has been on her mind because he reminded her of her Chow that died a few yrs ago. They've been thinking about getting a dog buddy for their other dog for awhile. They saw Brisco today and just adopted him even though he can't go home yet. They are great animal people.  They have two cats and one they found with it's leg stuck/broken in a wooden fence. The leg wouldn't heal so it was amputated, so they will now have a 3 legged cat and a 1 eyed dog.

 This elusive girl had recently had a litter of puppies and was hanging out near the Tollway & the SW Freeway. It took a combined effort and just under a week to lure her into a humane trap so that we could get her to safety at Poodle Rescue of Houston. We named her Mischief. We discovered that she was sweet and friendly. Once we stopped pursuing her and she was in our arms, it all came back to her that she was once loved. She deserved a great home because she is a great dog and it wasn’t long after we got her vetted and groomed (see second photo) that she got adopted. Thanks to the efforts of many, this story had a happy ending.

<-  Check out the interesting video below of a large group of toy dogs that were surrendered to Poodle Rescue of Houston by a breeder. Sometimes we just can’t turn our back on small dogs that are not all poodles. This was just such a case. Some of the dogs had very little previous contact with humans and needed to be socialized. We have since found all of these dogs forever homes.

Alexa is a junior volunteer.  She recently presented a check and dog food & treats to Guinnette Peebles, the founder and director of Poodle Rescue of Houston.  Besides volunteering to groom rescue dogs, Alexa found another way to help.  For her 14th birthday, she asked her friends to donate money & dogfood or supplies to Poodle Rescue instead of giving her gifts.
